Webdesk: The Best Show’s Tom Scharpling interviewed Kesha about her “saddest moment of my life” with Jerry Seinfeld.
Kesha recounted the viral 2017 Kennedy Center incident.
She said she studied transcendental meditation (TM) from David Lynch and was invited to a charity function.
Kesha consented despite being fatigued from her tour because she liked David Lynch and heard Jerry Seinfeld would be there. Seinfeld’s renowned sitcom had comforted her during difficult trips.
She watched Seinfeld DVDs during turbulence when traveling abroad. The show comforted.
Kesha anxiously anticipated meeting Seinfeld at the charity event, believing he provided her serenity, love, and joy. Seinfeld’s refusal to hug her on camera was disheartening.
Kesha called it her “most depressing, hilarious, but also so sad” moment.
Kesha approached Seinfeld for a hug in a viral film by radio host Tommy McFly, but he politely declined.
Seinfeld told Extra a few days later that his refusal was not personal and that he prefers not to hug strangers.
At 63, he doesn’t know every pop star and doesn’t like touching strangers. Seinfeld said he wants to say hello before touching someone.
After the snub, Kesha pondered giving up hugs.
She saw the pleasure of hugging as a soul-to-soul exchange of pleasant energy. Kesha loves hugging and its role in building relationships.
She did not let the incident influence her view on hugs.
