ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Security Division is creating a new team to protect courts and judges.
The police official said the initiative improved security and created Pakistan’s first Judicial Protection Unit (JPU).
Moreover, The statement stated that Islamabad Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan had completely restructured the Security Division to secure judges’ offices, court buildings, and residences.
While, The Security Division SSP will closely monitor the new Judicial Protection Unit.
Over 500 high-tech security cameras and a standard operating procedure (SoP) for court security have been implemented.
While, These cameras connected to an innovative Safe City Islamabad surveillance system for courtroom monitoring.
The Ministry of Interior has requested 550 personnel to increase residential and court security.
This unit will perform better with financial resources.
For federal capital security, the Islamabad Capital Police formed several units.
Moreover, The Diplomatic Protection Unit (DPU) protects Islamabad-based diplomats and delegations. The SPU protects Chinese and other foreigners in Islamabad.
The VVIP Protection Unit also safeguards Pakistan’s president and prime minister.
Finally, the High-Security Zone Protection Unit (HSZPU) guards National Assembly members, federal ministers, high-ranking officials, ministries, and civil agencies.
The IGP stressed that the Security Division restructure is intended to protect foreign embassies, diplomats, national dignitaries, and significant offices in the federal capital.
