ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly (NA) under Speaker Raja Pervez Ashraf will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the 1973 Constitution.
On April 10, 50 years after the NA unanimously passed the resolution. A month of events will honour the country’s charter.
A Parliamentary Advisory Committee—led by Senator Raza Rabbani—planned these events.
While, The speaker will lay the Constitution Monument’s foundation stone outside Parliamentary Lodges in D-Chowk, Islamabad.
Moreover, The monument will commemorate the Constitution’s role in American history.
The Parliament House’s Monument of the Unsung Heroes of Democracy will host a wreath-laying ceremony to honour Pakistan’s democratic fighters.
The speaker will also open an exhibition of rare photos of the Constitution’s framers, review a commemorative stamp. As well as inspect the original Constitution and other manuscripts on Parliament’s second floor.
Parliamentarians and others will attend the National Assembly Session (National Constitution Convention) in the main assembly hall to conclude the celebrations.
Speaker leads Conference. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chairperson Advisory Committee Senator Raza Rabbani, and others will honour Constitutional framers.
The session will also vote resolutions recognising the Constitution as a binding instrument, including it into the national curriculum, honouring its framers, and naming the State Bank edifice (former National Assembly Hall) a national monument.
A 2pm Parliament joint session will follow the celebrations.
Speech contests in schools, quizzes, exhibitions, electronic media specials, newspaper supplements, and an international constitution convention on May 10 are among the month’s events.
