Webdesk: The British breakout star Ritu Arya will play journalist Barbie in the new “Barbie” movie coming out this summer.
Greta Gerwig, who is one of Arya’s favourite directors, is in the movie, and Margot Robbie is also in it. Arya says she loved working with Gerwig and can’t wait to see how the movie turns out.
At first, she tried out for a different role, but then she was offered the part of journalist Barbie. Even though she didn’t get the first part she tried out for. Arya is glad she got to be in the movie and would love to work with Gerwig again.
Arya told Insider, “That was pretty crazy.” Greta Gerwig is one of my favourite directors, so being able to work with her was like a dream come true. I loved working with her so much. I can’t believe I’ll be working with her and Margot Robbie, and I can’t wait to see how the movie turns out. It was such a strange experience, and I’d work with her again in a heartbeat.”
“I made a self-tape for a part, but I didn’t get that one. After that, they offered me a different part, so I thought I wouldn’t be in it. When the offer came weeks or even a month later, it was amazing. You can never tell what will happen.”
Ritu Arya is known for her role as Lila in Netflix’s “Umbrella Academy.” She also plays a lead role in the action comedy “Polite Society,” which has all South Asian actors in the main roles and has gotten good reviews.
