Islamabad: PM Shehbaz Sharif spoke to the President of Kenya, Dr. William Ruto, about the murder of senior journalist Arshad Sharif in Kenya.
During the conversation, the Pakistani premier thanked the Kenyan president for his cooperation in the investigation so far.
PM Shehbaz reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to resolving the case and urged further cooperation from the Kenyan side.
President Ruto assured the premier of full support and cooperation in the matter. The two leaders also discussed bilateral cooperation and mutual interests.
The assassination of the journalist has gained significance in Pakistan, leading the government to send a special joint investigation team (JIT) to Kenya to collect facts surrounding the gruesome murder.
Last week, the Supreme Court instructed the JIT to submit the complete fact-finding report of Sharif’s murder within a month.
Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial urged the investigating team to “get to the facts” while conducting the investigation.
The premier emphasized Pakistan’s desire to strengthen historical ties with Kenya in all areas of cooperation, especially given the country’s significance to Pakistan’s relations with Africa.
