Webdesk: President Dr. Arif Alvi awarded 135 residents and international nationals civil awards on March 23, Pakistan Day, for their achievement and bravery. Many celebrities received posthumous Nishan-i-Imtiaz, including late actor Qavi Khan.
On Friday, actor Yasir Hussain expressed his dismay at the “well-deserved” but “late” acknowledgment of the Quaid-e-Azam Zindabad star.
“I’m usually late,” the Aik Thi Laila filmmaker posted on Instagram. “Though late, the prize well-deserved. Talented artists over 50 should earn Tamgha-i-Imtiaz [civil honours] during their lifetime. Who benefits from preserving these honours?”
The entertainment industry has questioned the late or lack of recognition of lifelong actors before. Ushna Shah tweeted last week about Khan not receiving a TV lifetime achievement award before his death.
“Qavi received how many lifetime achievement honours before his death, Pakistani theatrical industry? How many did he deserve, audience?” the actress.
