Peshawar: Asad Qaiser, the head of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), said that the police tried to arrest him at the Peshawar High Court (PHC), even though he had been “granted bail” in all of the cases filed against him after the chaos of May 9.
In a statement on Tuesday, he said, “Police didn’t catch me.”
Qaiser, the speaker of the National Assembly when the PTI ran the country before, said that Wazir Abdul Karim Khan, the leader of the party, had arrested.
A close friend of Imran Khan, the leader of the PTI, said that he going to court meetings in all “illegal” cases.
“I on bail in every case against me,” he said, adding that the cops tried to arrest him when he went to court.
In a case about the violent protests on May 9, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) released Qaiser on temporary bail the day before. He will stay free until July 13.
After the PTI boss arrested on May 9 in the £190 million Al-Qadir Trust case, riots broke out almost everywhere in the country. At least eight people died and many more hurt, which led the government to arrest thousands of PTI workers.
The military called May 9 “Black Day” and has chosen to try the protesters under the Army Act. Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir said that the legal process for this has already started.
A case filed against the former NA speaker because of the violence on May 9 at the Sangjani Police Station in Islamabad.
In the case, the PHC gave Qaiser temporary bail on June 21. He will stay free until July 3.
