LAHORE: Authorities raided former prime minister Imran Khan’s Zaman Park mansion on Saturday to arrest miscreants involved in skirmishes with police earlier this week and demolish unauthorised camps that had made the region a no-go zone.
In a news briefing after the raid, Punjab IGP Usman Anwar said police found assault guns, bullets, petrol bombs, and stones in the PTI Chairman’s home. He claimed the operation arrested 60 party members.
Khan left for Islamabad for the Toshakhana case hearing hours before the operation. Twitter clip shows the police official breaking into Khan’s house.
The IGP also found five Kalashnikovs and AK-47s on Khan’s property. The IG responded that the guns’ legality was being assessed.
He stated shipping containers blocked the roads around Zaman Park before the operation, which included water cannons, fully-equipped riot police, lady police, and prisoner vans.
The head cop claimed that someone inside the Khan’s house fired during the raid.
He replied that the Administrative Judge of the Anti-Terrorism Court issued the search order and that the operation was legal.
Rana Sanaullah, Minister for Interior, says Zaman Park operation cleared no-go zones and arrested criminals.
The interior minister claimed Imran Khan wants chaos and disorder, and the weapons found in the residence prove that.
