ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan encountered difficulties at the Lahore High Court (LHC), so the Islamabad administration decided on Sunday to prohibit outsiders from entering the banking and anti-terrorism courts where the former prime minister’s cases are scheduled to be heard tomorrow (Tuesday).
The management did not want a recurrence of the LHC, when 200 people had halted mobility inside a small area of the compound, according to the sources with knowledge of the development who spoke to the journal.
Both the parties and the court experienced severe annoyance as a result. According to the sources, the concerned officials are in contact with the PTI to ensure that the court appearance goes well.
The administration has communicated to PTI members the federal government’s instructions regarding the steps to be taken to prevent any unfavourable incidents. Today (Monday), a meeting of senior officials will be held to go over the plans for the PTI chairman’s appearance.
Although rummaging would not be permitted on the day, the government sought to make the finest possible arrangements for the event.
Security preparations before and during Imran’s arrival in the area of the courts are the responsibility of the Islamabad Police.
If needed, the Rangers could be called in to provide protection, according to the sources.
Another significant development is that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) will argue in court that Imran’s medical checkup should take place at one of the federal capital’s two major hospitals so that the medical professionals can diagnose his wound and condition.
Imran, according to the FIA, has been receiving wound care from a cancer facility. He has been supplying the cancer hospital, which he founded and is in charge of, with medical credentials.
Imran is likely to object to such a medical examination for one reason or another, it is understood. The PTI has been keeping Imran’s movement schedule a mystery. That is due to security concerns or unspecified other apprehensions. He has yet to specify whether he will remain in Bani Gala Islamabad or relocate to Peshawar.
