BCCI may approve PCB’s hybrid approach if Pakistan plays World Cup in India.

Webdesk:
The BCCI has changed its mind about the PCB’s mixed model idea for the Asia Cup. Only under certain circumstances.

So far, the PCB has been able to get most Asian countries, like Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan, to agree with their idea that matches should be held in neutral places.

India, on the other hand, will only agree to the plan if Pakistan promises to come to India in October 2023 for the World Cup.

The news says that the BCCI is likely to change how it talks about the issue, but an official decision won’t be made until after its Special General Meeting (SGM) on May 27.

India’s cricket board was adamant that the whole Asia Cup should be moved out of Pakistan and held at a neutral site. But after Pakistan said it might not go to the World Cup, India changed its mind.

During the SGM meeting in the Indian city of Ahmedabad, the board is likely to agree with Pakistan’s idea.

Chairman of the PCB Management Committee Najam Sethi had earlier said that Pakistan might not play in the World Cup, which will be held in India, if Jay Shah, who is the head of the Asian Cricket Council and secretary of the BCCI, did not agree to Pakistan’s role as a partial host.

“The problem is that India has said it won’t come. We couldn’t go to the Asia Cup. Do you want us to do something? By then, I will have told the ICC about the same idea. I don’t think the ICC is as strongly against the hybrid plan as I thought. “They are waiting to see how it goes in the Asia Cup,” Sethi said, adding that the attitude was still true even though he couldn’t say more about it.
