Karachi: Madhubala, the other captive elephant with Noor Jehan, may moved to Safari Park. It will be before Eidul Azha amid widespread criticism of her living conditions.
The Karachi administrator said Madhubala would leave the Karachi Zoo before Eidul Azha. On Friday, Sindh Minister for Local Government Syed Nasir Hussain Shah announced the decision. He was at a Karachi Zoo and Safari Park meeting.
Additional Chief Secretary Najam Ahmad Shah, Karachi Administrator Dr Syed Saifur Rehman, Four Paws team head Dr Aamir Khalili, Katrina Hussain, Sabina Dawood, Dr Javed Memon, zoo director Kunwar Ayub, Owais Khan Advocate, and other team members and officers attended the meeting.
Rehman said a Four Paws-approved traffic plan had created. The Safari Park for large animals had 20 acres.
Moreover, On Thursday, the Karachi Zoo collected blood samples from three tigers and one tiger and began elephant training. All animals scanned the same. The administrator named Madhubala’s enclosure Noor Jehan.
Shah said during the meeting that all precautions taken to move the mammal from Karachi Zoo to the Safari Park.
He said he would propose building an elephant sanctuary in the Safari park to the Sindh government and scanning all animals.
While, The provincial minister said the Sindh government saddened by elephant Noor Jehan’s death and supported animal welfare in all ways.
Moreover, He praised the Four Paws team for working with the zoo to treat the elephant. He hoped this international organisation would continue to help them treat sick animals with internationally accepted methods.
Minister Nasir Shah proposed a 1,000-acre safari park on the Super Highway, which should be reviewed to build a large safari park for Karachi residents.
He also recommended scanning and caring for Safari Park elephants Sonia and Malika.
