Webdesk: Ben Affleck talked about how he became the “poster boy” for “actor alcoholism and recovery” without meaning to. He also said that he likes to help people who are struggling with alcoholism.
In an interview with Hollywood Reporter, the star of “Gone Girl” said that people who are having trouble with alcohol addiction often come to him for help.
The Hollywood star has been open about his struggles with alcoholism, and he said it makes him feel “so good” when fans ask him for advice.
“”I didn’t want to become one of the faces of actor alcoholism and recovery, but that’s what happened,” he told the publication.
In 2001, 2017, and 2018, Affleck went to rehab more than once. His drug use also hurt his relationship with his ex-wife Jennifer Garner, with whom he has three children.
“And the best part is that sometimes people call me up and say, ‘Hey, can you help me out?’ “And doing that makes me feel so good,” the actor said.
“The big trick of 12-step is that they want you to help other people because it helps you more than it does them. And I often tell people, “If I were you, I would try to hide your addiction,” “Affleck said.
“No one needs you to be their example. You don’t have to say anything to anyone. That’s why the front of the book has two words. Both parts of Alcoholics Anonymous are just as important as the other. It’s always secret.”
