Kohat: On Monday, two policemen on a motorcycle patrol in Kohat were killed by militants who have not been named. The policemen were wearing safety gear.

Constables Qasim and Ayaz were riding a motorcycle through the city of Tapi. They were on their way to work in Taraweeh when they were attacked. The militants shot at them from the front, killing them right there.
An investigation was started to find out how this could have happened. Concerns have been raised about the quality and effectiveness of such safety gear since the accident. The report has raised important questions about how well police officers who put their lives at risk for their jobs are protected.
A police spokesman said that Shaheed Constable Qasim was hit in the chest by four bullets. All bullets went through his bulletproof jacket.
The report also said that the gun attack had hurt both the jacket and the helmet. Police put up a fence around the area so they could find the attackers.
When asked about it, Akhtar Hayat Khan Gandapur, the Inspector General of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police, said he had asked for a full investigation into how the bullets got through the bulletproof jackets.
He said that the police department will look into what happened when bullets went through two police officers’ jackets and helmets. He also said that the department wants to find out why the equipment did not protect them.
