ISLAMABAD: On Tuesday, interim President Sadiq Sanjrani gave an order to raise the pay of the Supreme Court judges.

In a document called “Salary of Judges of the Supreme Court Order, 2023,” the acting president raised the Chief Justice of Pakistan’s monthly pay to Rs1,229,189.

Also, the other judges on the Supreme Court will get Rs1,161,163 per month.

“In order to use the power given,” the notice said, “the Chief Justice of Pakistan shall be paid Rs. 1,229,189 per month, and each other Judge of the Supreme Court shall be paid Rs. 1,161,163 per month.”

It also said that the order would go into effect right away and that the previous order about judges’ pay would be cancelled.

“The Salary of Judges of the Supreme Court Order, 2022 (PO No. 1 of 2022), is hereby repealed,” the notice said.

Based on this earlier decision, the CJP was paid Rs1,024,324, and other judges were paid Rs9,67,636 each month.

Supreme Court judges make more than the president, the prime minister, ministers, federal secretaries, and lawmakers.

The data that was given to the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) in May were used to make the report.

Based on the pay of the Supreme Court judges in the past, the CJP gets the highest salary on the list, followed by the Supreme Court judges and the president. The prime minister, on the other hand, gets even less than ministers and federal secretaries.

Chairman Noor Alam Khan told members of the PAC at a meeting that the president made Rs896,550, the prime minister made Rs201,574, and federal ministers made Rs338,125.

He said that a parliamentarian’s monthly pay is Rs 188,000 and that a grade-22 officer’s monthly salary is Rs 591,475.
