Rawalpindi: General Asim Munir, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), met with Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi and said that Pakistan and Afghanistan need to work together more to “effectively” deal with the problems of terrorism and extremism that they both face.
The ISPR said in a statement that the Afghan foreign minister, who is in Pakistan for a four-day visit, met with the army head at his office in Rawalpindi.
They talked about things that were important to both of them, such as regional security, border management, and formalising bilateral security procedures to make the present security situation better.
The military’s media arm said that COAS Gen. Munir also talked about bilateral problems. He stressed the need for full support and commitment from the interim Afghan government in matters of mutual interest.
The visiting dignitary also liked how Pakistan has always helped the people of Afghanistan. He recognised how important it is that Pakistan continues to help bring peace and growth to Afghanistan. He also said that he wanted to work closely with Pakistan to help bring peace and wealth to the region.
During the meeting, both sides agreed that its important to keep in touch regularly to improve bilateral ties. He talk about things that both sides cared about.
Later, the army chief said that Pakistan still committed to an Afghanistan that was safe, peaceful, and wealthy.
