Rawalpindi: The army chief met with Chinese State Councillor and Foreign Minister Qin Gang at the general command in Rawalpindi. They talked about things that were important to both of them, such as regional security and working together on defence.
During the meeting, COAS Gen. Munir said that Pakistan still committed to the strategic relationship between China and Pakistan. He also promised his full support for the CPEC project. This project is a key part of China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
Gen. Munir also liked that China always stood by Pakistan in both regional and global problems.
The Chinese minister, meanwhile, talked about how important the strategic relationship between the two countries are. He also said that he was happy with how far the CPEC project had come. The Chinese FM said that China, still committed to finishing it on time.
He also praised Pakistan’s efforts to keep peace and stability in the region, especially the Pakistan Armed Forces’ help in keeping Chinese people and projects in Pakistan safe.
Both the army head and FM Gang talked about how security in the area was changing.
“COAS acknowledged China’s role in promoting peace and stability in the region, and both sides agreed to strengthen their existing cooperation in defence and security to effectively face common security challenges,” the statement said.
The ISPR said that the meeting ended on a good note, with both sides reiterating their plans to strengthen the friendship between Pakistan and China, which has stood the test of time and weather.
