New Delhi. Officers of Indian Information Service (2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022 batches) visited the President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, at Rashtrapati Bhavan today. They were joined by Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Shri Apurva Chandra, Joint Secretary, Shri Sanjeev Shankar, Director General, Indian Institute of Mass Communication, Prof. (Dr.) Sanjay Dwivedi, Additional Director General, Shri Ashish Goyal, and Course Director
The President told Indian Information Service officials that communication helps citizens understand government policies, programmes, and operations. IIS officers can help individuals become informed partners in national growth through efficient communication and accurate information.
With the rapid transmission of information, the President stated fake news has become a problem. While, IIS officers must fight bogus news. Moreover, President advised them to use technology and fight hard to stop media misinformation, especially on social media.
Moreover, Smt. Murmu stated IIS officers help India’s global image. India has always preached peace and brotherhood. While, India can make a great difference by spreading cultural messages to the world.
The President reminded officers of their significant responsibility and accountability. Moreover, She stated every decision and action they make will affect citizens. So, they should support national progress and citizen well-being.
