Lahore: During operations, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of Punjab apprehended eight alleged terrorists from banned organisations. According to the spokesman, the CTD Punjab conducted 21 intelligence-based operations. Operations were in different districts of the province to effectively respond to any act of terrorism.
During these operations, 21 suspects interrogated and 8 alleged terrorists arrested with weapons, explosives, and other prohibited materials. Among the terrorists detained were Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan members Akhtar Nawaz, Fawadullah. Faqeer Muhammad, Asif Nawaz, Zia-ur-Rehman, and Atiq Ahmed, as well as ISIS members Muhammad Usman and Bashir.
The terrorists found to be in possession of 2.53 grammes of explosives, one IED, one hand grenade. 3.5 feet of Prima Card. Moreover, 15 feet of protective fuse wire, 4 detonators. 1 tape, 3 mobile phones, 4 magazines of a banned organisation, 9 books, 22 stickers, 7 banned books. 2 receipt books, one matchbox and Rs 26420 in cash, according to a spokesman.
According to him, the terrorists intended to commit acts of sabotage throughout the province. As well as intended to target significant installations and religious sites. While, The police have filed six charges against the alleged terrorists arrested in Lahore. Gujranwala, DG Khan, and Bahawalpur, and have relocated them to an unknown location.
This week, 402 combing operations conducted with the assistance of local police and security agencies, 22921 people checked, 118 suspects apprehended, 89 FIRs filed, and 28 recoveries made, according to the spokesman.
