Webdesk: Diane Keaton wanted to know why Francis Ford Coppola put her in The Godfather, so she asked him.
After more than 50 years of releasing epic trilogies, the star posted the simple question on Instagram.
She asked, “Why on earth did you pick me for ‘The Godfather’?”
The director said, “I picked you because, even though you were supposed to play the “plain” wife, there was something deeper, funnier, and more interesting about you. (I was correct.)”
Coppola said that he hired her for the movie because of how great she was in the show Hair.
Coppola wrote, “Fred Astaire asked me to go with him to see ‘Hair,’ which he couldn’t make ‘hide nor hair’ of. “You were in it, and I still remember your beautiful singing voice.”
Earlier, Keaton also talked about how disappointed he was with how the third movie in the series did at the box office.
“When I saw it a long time ago, I thought, “Oh, I don’t know.” On the 50th anniversary of The Godfather, Keaton said, “It didn’t seem to do that well, and the reviews weren’t that good.”
“But Francis changed the beginning and the end, and man, I’m telling you, it worked.”
