Lahore: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) tickets for the upcoming Punjab elections are at the centre of a controversy. On Saturday, former chief justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar confirmed that the voice in the leaked audio call was that of his son, Najam Saqib.
“It’s my son’s voice on the leaked audio,” the former top judge said when asked if its his son in the supposed call that was leaked earlier today.
Justice (Ret.) Nisar confirmed this in an interview with the Geo News show “Naya Pakistan.”
A new supposed audio leak with Saqib in it came out earlier today, just days after a supposed audio leak with his father came out on April 23.
The leaked audio supposedly shows two different phone conversations between the son of the former CJP, a PTI candidate from PP137 named Abuzar Chadhar, and a person named Mian Uzair, whose identity is still unknown.
The three people supposedly be heard talking about the PTI provincial assembly ticket thats just released.
The former CJP also said that his son’s voice distorted and that the people who made the recording were “hypocrites.”
Justice (ret.) Nisar said, in response to a question about whats said in the audio about PTI’s ticket distribution and his own role in the matter, which brought up by his son in the call, “Has this hurt anyone?” Has this hurt you in any way?”
Private person counseling others
The former chief justice said that he called himself a “private person” who can make “recommendations” for anyone.
When asked if money taken for recommendations? Justice (retired) Nisar said, “Cursed be those who take money.”
Even though the judge admitted that he had suggested Abuzar for the PTI ticket, he did not take any money in exchange.
Shehzad Iqbal, an anchor for Geo News, said on the show that the PTI didn’t give Abuzar a ticket for the PP-137 seat in Lahore’s Sheikhupura district at first because the name of another candidate, Malik Iqbal, was on the first list, which came out on April 20.
But on April 26, the party put his name on a new list for the Central Punjab constituencies.
He also said that the change in candidates for PP-137 could have happened because of what the former top judge said.
