Maryam Faisal, the granddaughter of former Pakistan Test cricketer and selector Col. (R) Naushad, has become part of Scotland’s squad for the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier.
In a recent interview, Maryam shared that it was her grandfather’s passion for cricket that inspired both her and her twin brother to pursue the sport. She lovingly called him “Baba” and credits his constant support for her progress.
The 19-year-old has already represented Scotland in 1 ODI and 6 T20 matches. Maryam expressed her excitement about playing in Pakistan, calling it a dream come true. She also pointed out that cultural and family factors often prevent South Asian girls from pursuing sports.
