Sialkot: Since it is unclear how long the current National Assembly will be in power, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that his government will leave before its term is up.

“Our government will end its term next month. We will leave before the end of our term, and an interim government will take over,” he said at a gathering to give out laptops on Sunday at the Government College Women’s University in Sialkot.

The comment goes against what the PM said about his government a few days ago, when he hinted that his government would finish its term.

Back then, PM Shehbaz said that the alliance government’s term would end on August 14 and that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) would announce the next election date in “October or November.”

The prime minister’s statement made it sound like the current leaders are not thinking about getting rid of the National Assembly before its planned end date, which is August 14 this year.

When the National Assembly’s constitutional term is up in 60 days, general elections held. But if the government gets rid of the lower house of parliament before the end of its constitutional term, the election date can be pushed back 90 days.

‘Petrol prices dropped due to IMF agreement’

The prime minister said that the agreement with the IMF was the reason why the price of petroleum goes down.

He also said that the IMF deal made the rupee stronger against the dollar, which made it cheaper to buy oil. He also said that the government helped the people out by lowering the prices of oil goods.

PM Shehbaz said that 100,000 students will get laptops in the fiscal year 2023-24. He also thanked Ishaq Dar, who is the Finance Minister, for letting the computers come into the country.

“I want to tell the girls of the country that giving you laptops wasn’t a favour, but rather something you earned,” he said.

The prime minister also said that Rs5 billion has set aside this year for projects that help women. He also said that the country can’t do well until the women involved.

PM Shehbaz also said, “All girls who go to school must work in the real world.” He went on to say that women work with guys day and night all over the world.

“If we get another chance under Nawaz Sharif’s leadership, every girl will get a laptop,” he said.

“PML-N will change the country’s future”

Earlier, at a ceremony in Lahore where cheques given out, PM Shehbaz said that if Nawaz Sharif and the rest of the leadership of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) elected in the upcoming general elections, they would change the country’s fate by putting it on the path to progress and prosperity.

The prime minister said that they would accept the results of the upcoming elections, and he asked the people to make their choice after looking at the facts and comparing the success of the PML-N governments with that of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) governments.

PM Shehbaz praised his older brother for being a good leader. He was sad that three-time prime minister and his leader, Nawaz Sharif, had to leave office. Even though he had ended hours-long blackouts, given laptops and loans to young people, and started multibillion-dollar power and road infrastructure projects for the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CEPC) in 2015.

He also said that when Imran Khan removed from power in a legal way, he used bad language and dirty tricks against state institutions.

The current prime minister said that the PTI’s time in power was filled with huge corruption scams. Such as the sugar and wheat scams, BRT Peshawar, Malam Jabba, sale of Toshakhana gifts, Rs60 billion in stolen money returned by a UK agency, etc., and that no one could reject these facts.
