Webdesk: Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique told the National Assembly that six railway personnel were suspended for their negligence that reportedly caused the Hazara Express collision, the latest train catastrophe in Pakistan.
Last Sunday, 10 bogies of the Hazara Express derailed near Sarhari Railway Station in Sanghar’s Nawabshah on its way from Karachi to Havelian, killing over 30 people and wounding over 100.
Rafique remarked during Tuesday’s NA session that investigations were underway and the report would be completed in a few days.
He stated two bogie wheels jammed before leaving Karachi, causing the disaster. The disaster also caused by damaged railway track near the crash site.
The government said the suspended officers were below BPS-18.
He claimed that each passenger’s family received Rs1.5 million.
The Ministry of Pakistan Railways had already suspended officials under Rule 5 of the Civil Servants Efficiency and Discipline Rule 2020.
The letter claimed that a divisional engineer and works manager suspended after an inquiry.
It stated that Rule-5 of Civil Servants (Efficiency and Discipline) Rules, 2020 has suspended six officials “immediately” and until further instructions in connection with the incident.
The accident report claimed that theres no fish plates connecting the line. A piece of wood inserted to replace the fractured track.
The derailment damaged the engine’s wheels, and the investigation may find sabotage.
Engineering and mechanical engineering are responsible.
Six policemen disagreed on the original report.
