Webdesk: The Magic Castle co-founder and Truth or Consequences writer Milt Larsen died in Los Angeles at 92.
Larsen died quietly in his sleep on Sunday night at his Hollywood home, surrounded by family and friends, family sources said.
He wrote music for Disney classics like Mary Poppins and The Jungle Book and produced TV specials for various networks.
Larsen created and advised the Caesars Magic Empire in Las Vegas. His greatest achievement was co-founding The Magic Castle with his late brother in 1963. Magicians joined the Magic Castle, a mediaeval estate.
Larsen wrote many humour books including Magic Castle books. He was the club’s parent company’s president until his death.
In 2000, Magic magazine named him one of the 100 most influential magicians.
Moreover, Larsen loved magic and entertaining from childhood. As Ralph Edwards’ TV writer, he worked with Buster Keaton, Stan Laurel, and Jack Benny.
While, Larsen composed Pazzazz and wrote hilarious songs with Richard Sherman.
Larsen owned and operated Los Angeles’ Mayfair Music Hall and Variety Arts Theatre in addition to performing magic. UC Santa Barbara received his vaudeville collection.
Moreover, Larsen’s wife Arlene, nephew, niece, and great-nieces survive him. He fought royalty lawsuits and a class-action lawsuit over unpaid hospitality workers at The Magic Castle.
