Webdesk: The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will support any ACC resolution on the Asia Cup dispute.
The Indian cricket board wants this year’s Asia Cup conducted at a neutral venue. India won’t send its squad to Pakistan.
PCB has been seeking to organise the event since having it elsewhere will hurt its efforts to bring international cricket back to the cash-strapped nation.
The PCB proposed a hybrid plan, but the BCCI is unlikely to approve it. The model had four group stage matches in Pakistan and the rest at a neutral venue.
The BCB had worries about the UAE being a neutral location due to severe temperatures.
We want to play the Asia Cup. We are interested in any tournament model. On Monday, BCB cricket operations chairman Jalal Yunus told local media that the event will played in Dubai. But if the ACC and other members agree.
“World Cup attention causes discomfort. We didn’t play in Dubai because we’re preparing. “ACC’s decision is pending,” he added.
Najam Sethi, chairman of the PCB Management Committee, urged for a sensible solution to the problem that threatens the Asia Cup and the ODI World Cup this year.
Moreover, Sethi told the reporters at the National Assembly Standing Committee on Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) meeting that the Pakistan team is unlikely to travel to India for the ODI World Cup.
While, If India refuses to play in the Asia Cup in Pakistan, the Pakistani authorities may not let the Men in Green play in the World Cup. “Cricket will suffer the most,” Sethi remarked.
“ICC and ACC events should hosted smoothly. He continued, “If India refuses to travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup, the government will not allow us to travel to India for the World Cup matches.”
