Lahore: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman and former Prime Minister Imran Khan likes to think that tapping phone calls is done to put pressure on judges and stop the rule of law in the country.
During a meeting with columnists and senior writers, the former prime minister said this. During the meeting, the head of the PTI talked about his party’s political strategy, economic problems, and terrorist attacks. He also talked about the PTI’s “Jail Bharo Tehreek” and what it hopes to accomplish.
Referring to the phone tapping, the head of the PTI said that the ongoing propaganda against the judiciary, especially the judges, was shameful. He also said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had a history of going after the judiciary.
Khan said, “Tapping phone calls was an attempt to put pressure on the judges and stop the rule of law.”
The head of the PTI said that the courts were the country’s last chance. He also said that the government should make sure the law is followed without putting pressure on the judges.
Khan also said that the main person helping the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) break the law was the chief election commissioner (CEC). He also said that the current government is pushing for revenge and political dictatorship.
Khan said that with the help of the whole country, the PTI would stop the lawlessness and economic crisis. He also said that he had told people that the Jail Bharo movement for real independence had begun.
He thought that the country’s economy would be stable if the country’s government was stable. This is not possible without the rule of law, though.
IK also stated that Qamar Javed Bajwa admitted his involvement in regime change. He also said that General (retired) Bajwa had said that he ran the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
He also said that the former head of the army had admitted to making audio recordings, which was against the law. He told the military to look into what General (retired) Bajwa had done.
Khan said it was great that President Dr. Arif Alvi didn’t sign the Finance Bill ordinance. He said that the country’s prices would go up because of the finance bill.
He said that the economy was doing well while the PTI government was in power. During the current government, there was a 100% chance that Pakistan would not pay its debts.
Concerning his cases, the former prime minister said that he was being called to court, but the doctors wouldn’t let him walk.
He also said that they gave up the governments of two provinces so that new elections could end the crisis, but the rulers kept putting off the elections.
Khan said, “The Constitution says that elections should be held 90 days after an assembly is dissolved.”
The former cricketer also said that the caretaker governments were not fair and that PTI leaders and supporters were being arrested and false charges were being brought against them.
Khan said that the Jail Bharo movement was a peaceful way for them to protest against the government. The PTI will start the movement on February 22, and people all over the country will turn themselves in to the police.
Ejaz Chaudhry, who is in charge of Jail Bharo Tehreek for the PTI, said that 200 party members and six former members of the assemblies will be arrested every day in Lahore starting on February 22 and going on until March 1, 2023, to protest the oppressive regime.
He told the media at the party’s headquarters in Lahore that the goal of Jail Bharo Tehreek was to stop people from breaking the country’s Constitution.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and the PDM government refused to follow the Constitution and carry out the court decisions.
He was sad that it was no longer possible to set a date for the Punjab Assembly elections. He asked, “Why didn’t the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) governor, who had signed the summary of dissolving the assembly, give the election date?”
He talked about the Jail Bharo Tehreek and said that a list of volunteers who were willing to risk being arrested had already been made.
According to the plan, the PTI activists would be arrested in Peshawar on February 23, in Rawalpindi on February 24, in Multan on February 25, in Gujranwala on February 26, in Sargodha on February 27, in Sahiwal on February 28, and in Faisalabad on March 1.
Chaudhry said that if the government didn’t arrest them, the PTI would hold sit-ins.
