PTI chairman Imran Khan travelling to Rawalpindi to appear before the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in the Al-Qadir Trust case.
Former Prime Minister Imran Khan summoned by the anti-graft crusader. An lengthy probe into a £190 million UK settlement prompted the summons.
Imran Khan wrote to NAB to say he will comply with the summons. Khan stated on May 23 that he would pursue many pre-arrest bails in Islamabad and “shall be free from the courts to join the investigation by 11am.”
Khan also requested the NAB’s post-arrest inquiry report. The former prime minister said he left the report at the Police Lines resthouse during his incarceration.
Moreover, The PTI head skipped the same NAB hearing in Rawalpindi on May 18. Khan wrote in a five-page answer that he was in Lahore seeking bail in various cases, which prevented him from joining the probe.
While, Khan’s arrest from the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on May 9 in the same case provoked violent protests nationwide. The violence killed eight people and injured many others. Authorities quickly arrested thousands of PTI workers to maintain order.
Civil and military installations attacked, too. After Khan’s arrest, violence hit Lahore’s General Headquarters (GHQ) and Corps Commander House (Jinnah House).
On May 11, the Supreme Court released him and ordered him to appear before the Islamabad High Court (IHC) the following day.
The military and administration have vowed to prosecute those who attacked army sites under the Pakistan Army Act, Official Secrets Act, and other laws.
