ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister Imran Khan said he knows “more” about General (retd) Qamar Bajwa’s Kashmir plan, thereby endorsing journalist Hamid Mir’s comments.
Hamid Mir recently discussed the former army chief’s off-the-record chat with 20-25 journalists about Pakistan-India relations and the Kashmir dispute.
While, The journalist said ex-COAS Gen Bajwa informed reporters that Pakistan not ready to combat India.
“I know more things than that, but this is a national security issue,” Khan remarked. He blamed the previous army chief for overthrowing his administration.
Moreover, He spoke to journalists after obtaining interim bail in an encouragement to mutiny prosecution at the Islamabad High Court.
“I don’t want it to become international news and Pakistan to suffer,” he remarked.
Gen (retd) Bajwa’s words “quoted out of context” by the media, the military’s media wing said today.
After media discussions on “Pakistan Army’s combat worthiness in view of the condition of certain weapon systems on its inventory,” ISPR published the statement.
“To this end, views of former army chief on the future threat to Pakistan, which he shared with media persons in an off-the-record interactive session, have been quoted out of context,” said ISPR.
While, The army will always be proud of its “operational preparedness and utmost combat worthiness,” it promised.
“Pakistan’s Armed Forces always did and will continue to keep their weapons, equipment and battle-hardened human resource ever ready for the defence of the motherland,” said the ISPR.
