The Mr. India director feels Indian fans “accustomed to things that are otherworldly,” suggesting his production would be “quite distinct” from Western films.
Kapur told the Times of India that his project is like Harry Potter. I’m planning an Indian Harry Potter project. Not Harry Potter. “The Indian equivalent, the same genre,” he remarked.
The filmmaker stated that Indians had heard legends of unearthly animals. We’ve always heard those stories. I’m creating an Indian Harry Potter-style film franchise.
Kapur also discussed his Indian-produced film Paani. He considered making the film in Spanish after losing several years. He wanted the film to be Indian. When Slumdog Millionaire was successful worldwide, he returned to India to direct the picture.
Moreover, Shekhar directed Jemima Khan’s romantic comedy What’s Love Got to Do with It. While, The film starred Emma Thompson, Lily James, Shazad Latif, Sajal Aly, Oliver Chris, Asim Chaudhry, Jeff Mirza, Alice Orr-Ewing, and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. In the 2022 Rome Film Fest, it won Best Comedy.
