Gaza, Tel Aviv (International Desk) – Israel has imposed a new condition for a ceasefire in Gaza, stating that a cessation of hostilities will only be possible if Hamas surrenders and releases all hostages.
According to international news agencies, the Israeli Foreign Minister and Defense Minister have warned that if Hamas takes advantage of foreign humanitarian aid entering Gaza, Israel will block the delivery of relief supplies. The Israeli Defense Minister reiterated that a ceasefire could only take place if Hamas lays down its arms and releases the hostages.
These statements from Israeli officials come amid ongoing ceasefire negotiations, where mediators have proposed that Hamas release five hostages, including U.S. nationals. In return, Israel would agree to a one-week ceasefire, allowing humanitarian aid to enter Gaza while also releasing hundreds of Palestinian detainees.
