ISLAMABAD: Nepra allowed a Rs1.55 per unit increase for KE subscribers due to quarterly FCA for Jul-September 2022.
Based on power units utilised in July, August, and September 2018. Karachiites would be charged Rs1.5547 from May to July 2023.
The regulator’s decision and SoT will charge power consumers of all categories. It includes residential, commercial, ToU, EVCS, general services, industrial sector. As well as single point supply, agriculture tube wells, streetlights, and residential colonies attached to industrial premises—Rs1.5547 per unit for three months.
Lifeline subscribers utilising fewer than 100 units per month will be exempt.
Nepra ruled on the federal government’s request for a consumer-end KE tariff.
The government sets a national tariff and subsidises the difference.
Thus, the Ministry of Energy wants quarterly adjustments for KE clients like XWDISCOs.
Moreover, The federal government petitioned Nepra under sections 7 & 31 of the Nepra Act, 1997 and rule 17 of the Nepra Tariff (Standards and Procedure) Rules, 1998 to apply Quarterly Adjustment to KE consumers like XWDISCOs do.
On April 3, 2023, the power regulator held a public hearing on the federal government’s motion to alter the consumer-end tariff under the Uniform Tariff Policy based on the KE’s recommendations.
The ministry said the federal government is subsidising KE by Rs150 billion this year.
