A horrifying incident unfolded in the Rawat area of Rawalpindi where a woman was allegedly murdered by her husband and two sons in the name of honour. The body was buried in a deserted location, but the crime was revealed by the would-be daughter-in-law of the family.
According to police, the victim, Nagina Bibi, was married to Fazal Malik around 30 years ago. They had two sons and three daughters. On July 15th, Fazal Malik’s prospective daughter-in-law, Mahnoor, fled from Rawat to her father’s home in Peshawar out of fear—and revealed the shocking story.
Mahnoor told police that Fazal Malik accused his wife of immoral behavior and, in her presence, poisoned her and then struck her on the head with a stick to ensure her death. The three men later transported and buried the body in a deserted location.
The victim’s brother lodged a formal complaint, leading police to arrest Fazal Malik and his sons. The suspects then led police to the burial site, from where the woman’s body was recovered. Further investigation is underway.
This tragic case sheds light once again on how women in Pakistan continue to suffer under the guise of “honour,” often at the hands of those who were meant to protect them.
