ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and wife Bushra Bibi wedded during the latter’s Iddat (the time a woman goes into seclusion when her husband dies or divorces her) despite knowing everything, said Mufti Saeed, who solemnised their Nikah.
The preacher made the comment while testifying on the former prime minister’s alleged unIslamic Nikah with Bushra Riaz Wattoo, popularly known as Bushra Bibi.
In February 2018, the ex-prime minister married Bushra, his third wife.
Khan’s buddy Zulfi Bukhari and former party leader Awn Chaudhry said Mufti Saeed performed the Nikah in Lahore. Both witnessed Khan’s Nikah.
Mufti Saeed and his counsel testified in an Islamabad court today.
January 2018: Imran Khan called me. I was in Imran Khan’s core committee and had good relations with him.
“Imran Khan asked me to solemnise his nikkah with Bushra Bibi,” Mufti Saeed told the court.
He added that Bushra Bibi’s sister appeared.
“I asked her [the woman] if Bushra Bibi’s Nikah can be [solemnised] as per Shariah,” Mufti Saeed stated, adding that the woman told him all Shariah marriage conditions were met.
Over Bushra Bibi’s guarantee, he married Khan on January 1, 2018.
“Then the former premier contacted me again on February 2018. He requested me to solemnise his Nikah with Bushra Bibi again as the first time it was against the Shariah,” Mufti Saeed told the court.
Bushra Bibi’s Iddat hadn’t ended the first time the Nikah solemnised. He described Khan as saying that Bushra Bibi divorced in November 2017 and that the PTI chairman would become prime minister if he married her.
Mufti Saeed said that the “prediction” Nikah prohibited.
Imran Khan married Bushra Bibi twice.
Mufti Saeed stated this on Geo News’ “Jirga” on January 24.
On January 1, 2018, the former PM’s third Nikah reported. The party disputed the report then.
Moreover, The News’ senior correspondent Umar Cheema reported the former PM’s third Nikah on January 1, 2018. The party disputed the report then.
Cheema said Khan wedded Bushra at Iddat. On February 18, 2018, photographs released to obscure Bushra’s Iddat, the journalist reported.
He added that Khan asked Mufti Saeed to keep the PTI chief’s integrity at all costs and not speak to the media to cover up his falsehood.
The latter said that the former PM shouldn’t prevent him from speaking since he pledged to maintain the secret.
Cheema claimed that Mufti Saeed had raised reservations with individuals close to him and said that if he exposes the truth, it will be an issue and he cannot let anyone know that he fully trusted Khan and Bushra Bibi throughout the Iddat period.
While, He also said he was misinformed.
Moreover, Bushra’s former in-laws, the Maneka family, said the divorce occurred on November 14, 2017, and the Iddat completed on February 14. Bushra’s friend Farah Jabeen corroborated this.
