LONDON: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Nawaz Sharif has asked the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) to do something about an alleged audio tape in which former Punjab Chief Minister Parvez Elahi can be heard talking about fixing cases before a Supreme Court judge.
Elahi has not said that the tapes are not real, but he has said that his words were taken out of context.
Nawaz told the media here that Pakistan is in a very bad situation right now because of people like this judge. People like him are definitely to blame for the problems Pakistan is having right now, since the country is not getting better. These audio leaks are bad, and they should be taken very seriously.”
When asked if the SJC should be moved, the former prime minister joked that he could also be charged for the alleged leak because he says he is a victim of judicial activism.
“If you don’t send this case to the SJC, then send my name to that same forum. Eh case vee mairay tay paa deo (register this case against me too). You have made so many fake cases and false accusations against me that even this won’t be a surprise.”
“The Gang of Five”
Nawaz said that the “Gang of Five” (retired Gen. Bajwa, retired Lt. Gen. Faiz, Imran Khan, Saqib Nisar, and Asif Saeed Khosa) is destroying Pakistan and called for them to be held accountable.
“It was wrong what this group of five did to me and Pakistan. They were bad for Pakistan. Because of people like these, the situation in Pakistan is out of hand. The average person can’t make it today. Prices of goods are getting out of hand.”
The founder of the PML-N said that Khan’s time should be compared to when he was in charge and everything was cheap and easy to get.
“Today people are unable to buy bread. It’s the same thing that happened when Imran Khan was in charge. Compare my government to what Imran Khan did for four years, or compare his years to mine. The country should choose which time period was better. Pakistan is a nuclear power, so the people should decide when things are cheaper and there is no load-shedding. The country will find out. Those who tried to destroy Pakistan need to be held accountable. Pakistan will not move forward if these people are not held responsible.”
Nawaz criticised the former apex court judges who ran the Panama case against him and disqualified him for not taking a salary from his son.
“I’ve been saying this for over six years, and I still believe it, and I still believe that these people should be held responsible.
