Prosecutors used DNA and Jiwani’s statements to prove attempted murder and child maltreatment allegations.
As her husband and children could testify, prosecutors opposed Jiwani’s release, citing witness intimidation issues. DNA and the defendant’s statements showed she intended to hurt the child, according to prosecutors.
Moreover, Jiwani’s defence attorney presented medical papers and expert testimonies claiming postpartum depression and psychosis. The prosecution argued that psychosis and postpartum depression were implausible.
While, Chief Magistrate Keisha Martin Chambless refused Jiwani’s bond, concerned about her leaving and influencing witnesses. Jiwani’s defence attorney told her not to answer questions in court. June 13 is the preliminary hearing.
Moreover, After nearly four years, the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office released body camera footage of Baby India’s recovery to identify her and arrest Jiwani.
Ten months ago, modern DNA techniques identified the child’s father, and Jiwani was confirmed as the biological mother.
While, The sheriff stated the child’s father was unaware of the pregnancy or desertion. According to relatives and medical specialists, Jiwani concealed pregnancies and had surprise births. Jiwani has no criminal record.
Moreover, Baby India, whose name is unknown, is happy and healthy, according to the Forsyth County Sheriff.
