Karachi: At least nine persons killed in a horrific accident in Thatta on Tuesday.
According to the police report, the tragedy occurred in the Chalia neighbourhood of Thatta when a truck and a van crashed head-on, killing nine occupants aboard the van. Eight individuals perished on the spot, while another died in the hospital from his injuries.
According to the authorities, all of the passengers who died were Karachi citizens. Authorities said they were on their way to Kenjhar Lake for a picnic.
According to police, the deceased was from Karachi’s Qazafi Town neighbourhood. Abdul Wahab, Abdullah, Tasbihullah, Noorul Wahab, and Adnan were among those who died.
According to rescue sources, the bodies transferred to Karachi, where six of them released to their respective bereaved families. The remaining three bodies, however, have yet to be identified.
The truck driver involved in the accident managed to depart the area, leaving authorities to do additional investigation.
According to a friend of the deceased, Abdullah had gone from Saudi Arabia to celebrate Eidul Fitr with his family. He told Geo News outside the Edhi mortuary that all of the deceased were buddies.
Meanwhile, Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori extended his condolences for the Thatta tragedy and requested a comprehensive report from Commissioner Hyderabad.
Governor Tessori has also directed that all essential medical facilities be made accessible to the injured victims of the disaster.
