Webdesk: ITV says Phillip Schofield will leave This Morning.
Schofield left the show immediately amid claimed conflict with his co-host.
The network confirmed Schofield’s final broadcast last Thursday. The show premiered in 2002. Willoughby will continue to co-host This Morning.
Schofield and co-host Holly Willoughby reportedly “barely speak” off-camera on the ITV daily show.
“I have always been proud to cover fascinating stories on This Morning,” Schofield stated of his resignation. This Morning is now the tale.”
“Throughout my career in TV—including the very difficult last few days—I have always done my best to be honourable and kind,” he said. I understand that ITV has decided the current situation cannot continue, and I want to defend the show I love.
I’ve decided to leave This Morning immediately in hopes of a bright future. I’d like to thank everyone who’s supported me, especially This Morning’s fantastic audience, and I’ll see you at the Soap Awards next month.”
“It’s been over 13 great years presenting This Morning with Phil and I want to thank him for all of his knowledge, experience and humour,” Willoughby remarked. The sofa will miss him.”
Viewers noticed Schofield and Willoughby’s tension and awkward times this week.
