Webdesk: Citadel, Priyanka Chopra’s spy thriller, is being billed as a James Bond rival by directors Joe and Anthony Russo. It premieres on Amazon Prime Video on April 28. Chopra, Madden, Manville, and Tucci star. The Russo Brothers spoke to Total Film Magazine about their love for 007 and their approach to create a new Bond experience.
Russo stated, “Very accurate. “We loved Bond growing up,” Anthony Russo said. “Our duty as writers isn’t to deliver you another version of 007.” Storytellers should excite and surprise you. We should hit that mark. Will see.”
The directors lauded Chopra’s athletic abilities and her ability to lead the show’s action, saying Madden’s character plays catch up. Russo said, “This genre usually stars men. Upsetting that was intriguing. Physically gifted Priyanka. On-screen, she’s a badass.”
Moreover, Chopra and Madden play covert spies who lost their memory in a crash. While investigating their pasts, they struggle with their attraction.
Chopra will also star in Love Again, an English-language version of 2016 German film SMS für Dich, with Sam Heughan and Celine Dion.
