PTI ready to talk to Govt. Asked for “Date & Venue”

ISLAMABAD: On Friday, the PTI asked the coalition government to “give a date and venue” for a meeting that would bring all political parties to the table. Meanwhile, the top regulatory body for lawyers said it was ready to mediate between the government and the opposition.

Fawad Chaudhry, a leader of the PTI, writes on twitter that Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar was making statements every day to sit down and solve problems, and that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had also asked for talks.

“Make this process more than just making statements. Set a date and place for the parties to meet. “Imran Khan already liked dialogues,” he said in a tweet.

Mr. Chaudhry’s statement came a day after Imran Khan said that he was ready to “talk to anyone”. He also said that he is ready to “make any sacrifice” for the sake of the country.

A group of top lawyers has offered to help settle disagreements between political parties.

“I won’t be afraid to make any sacrifice for Pakistan’s progress, interests, and democracy. In this way, I’m ready to talk to anyone and do everything I can,” Khan said in a tweet earlier.

Mr. Khan’s tweet came a day after Wednesday, when Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif again tried to make peace with him by saying that “all political forces will have to work together to move the country forward.”

When he spoke outside the Lahore High Court later on Friday, Mr. Chaudhry also called for a date and place for the meeting.

He told the prime minister and Mr. Tarar, “You’re making claims, so you should keep going with it.” Asad Umar is here, no matter where you hold the party or if you invite him. You talk. We can handle that.”

The last time all parties talked together was in February, when the prime minister called an all-party conference (APC) and invited the country’s political leaders, including the head of the PTI, to talk about how to solve problems.
