Karachi: As the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) accelerated preparations for a demonstration led by Chairman Imran Khan in Lahore, Sindh lawmaker Arsalan Taj Hussain was arrested from his Karachi apartment, according to the party’s provincial spokesman.
Hussain, PTI provincial assembly member for PS-102 Karachi East 4 and party general secretary in the city, had criticized Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari and Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon in a press conference the day before. He also alleged that the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) was the “B team” of the PPP.
“Guys in plain clothing” picked Hussain from his home in Gulshan-e-Iqbal.
The representative also alleged that police invaded and ransacked the MPA’s residence. The PTI has criticized the arrest of a party member.
Party spokes person claimed that police also searched houses of Khurram Sherzaman and Raja Azhar as well. Both remains safe from arrest because they were away, He added.
Following Hussain’s detention, his mother asserted that police entered their home and unlawfully arrested her son.
“No female police officers accompanied the officers. The police searched our residence. “We don’t know where they took Arsalan,” she claimed, adding that 20 to 25 individuals picked up the congressman.
