Gesine Bullock-Prado wrote a touching tribute to Bryan Randall, Sandra Bullock’s husband, after he died at age 57.
In an official statement to Entertainment Tonight, the photographer’s family said that he died “peacefully” after a three-year fight with ALS.
In honour of Bryan, Gesine posted on Instagram that The Blind Side star Kevin Costner took care of her boyfriend of eight years while he was fighting the dangerous disease alone for three years.
“I’m sure Bry has found the best place to fish in heaven and is already casting his lure into rushing rivers full of salmon,” she wrote next to a picture of the photographer smiling.
She added in her tribute, “ALS is a cruel disease, but it gives me some comfort to know that my amazing sister and the group of nurses she put together to help her care for him in their home were the best caretakers he could have.”
She said, “Rest in peace, Bryan,” and then asked her fans to make donations instead of sending flowers to ALS Research and Massachusetts General Hospital in Randall’s name.
In their official statement, Bryan’s family talked about how he wanted his battle with ALS “private,”. They said that everyone who helped him did their best “to honour his request.”
“We are very grateful to the hardworking doctors who helped us through this illness. As well as to the amazing nurses who became our roommates and often gave up time with their own families to be with ours,” said the statement.
“At this time, we ask for privacy so that we can grieve and accept that we can’t say goodbye to Bryan,” they said, adding, “His Loving Family.”
