Abbottabad: In a scathing attack on the leadership of his own party, former Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan, has criticized the policies of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), calling it “a party of the establishment.” Speaking to party workers in Abbottabad on Wednesday, Sardar Mehtab called for his supporters to uphold their respect and dignity, but asked them to remain disciplined during the visit of PML-N Chief Organizer, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, to Abbottabad on Thursday.
“My leader’s daughter is coming and she should not be disrespected in any way, even though I was not consulted about her visit,” Sardar Mehtab added. The former Chief Minister, who holds a strong position in the province of Hazara and even at the center, served as the Chief Minister, Governor, and Federal Minister in the past.
Sardar Mehtab expressed concern over the country’s current economic crisis and criticized the current federal cabinet, calling it a recipe for disaster. He also criticized the ministers, saying that they consider it an insult to sit in their offices and think about the country and its people. He called on dedicated workers to come forward and find an out-of-the-box solution, and urged PML-N to change its provincial leadership if it wants to succeed.
The PML-N stalwart also criticized the role of the establishment and the judiciary in the current crisis and asked the International Monetary Fund to check the record of loan utilization in the country over the last 30 years. He added that all parties should make an effort to steer the country out of its current crisis and that it was an appropriate time to raise voices against all the evils plaguing the country.
Sardar Mehtab, who also held the office of central vice president of PML-N, criticized the political leadership for not owning the country and focusing on personal wealth accumulation. He expressed disappointment over the inefficiency of parliament and the failure of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) to deliver during its tenure. Sardar Mehtab stated that he was not part of any group and was simply raising his voice against the current situation.
Former MPA Sardar Shamoon Yar Khan, former Provincial Minister Ayub Afridi, and office-bearers of PML-N were also present at the gathering.
