Webdesk: At the Academy Museum Gala last year, Selena Gomez and Hailey Bieber ended their years-long rivalry over Justin Bieber.
In 2023, death threats, cyberbullying, and an ongoing war between Selenators and Hailey followers to establish who is the genuine “mean girl” escalated the teen drama.
Selena said on her Instagram story on Friday that Hailey had told her she was “receiving death threats. The Calm Down singer further criticised their activities. She answered, “I oppose this. Bullying and hatred are wrong. I’ve always promoted kindness and want this to stop.”
Hailey addressed the internet’s treatment of her this afternoon.
She said she and Selena had been privately discussing how to manage the controversy for weeks, recognising that everyone could be kinder online, including herself. After Selena followed Hailey this morning, she followed her back on Instagram.
Hailey said, “I want to thank Selena for speaking out, as she and I have been discussing the last few weeks how to move past this ongoing narrative between her and I.” Moreover, “Millions of people are seeing so much hate around this, which is damaging. Social media is great for connecting and building community, but instances like this simply divide people.”
Rhode owner said, “Everything can be misinterpreted. I, too, need to think before posting and speaking. I believe love will always triumph over hate and negativity, and we can always show greater understanding and compassion.”
