Webdesk: Shaheen Afridi, Pakistan’s best fast bowler, set to miss the next Test series against Sri Lanka.
Sources said that the lanky pacer could be given a break during the task next month so that he doesn’t get too tired before the World Cup this year.
The plan for the two-match Test series, which is part of the ICC World Test Championship, will be announced soon by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC).
Earlier, it was also said that Pakistan is unlikely to play ODIs while they are in Sri Lanka for their Test trip.
The South African Cricket Board (SLC) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) talked about the possibility of having ODI matches along with the two Test matches.
But sources say that the idea likely to scrapped because of unplanned events.
Shaheen is currently playing for Nottinghamshire in the English T20 Blast, where he has taken 13 wickets in nine games.
The tall pacer said that the best thing about playing league cricket is that he can share what he’s learned with other players when he gets back home.
“We play with and against guys who are good enough to play at an international level. “That makes it easier for me to figure out how I should bowl to them in the future,” Shaheen told Geo News last month.
“So it’s good for me as a person, and it will also help me improve my performance, which will be very helpful as we get ready for the World Cup and build up a good rhythm before then,” he said.
India will host the World Cup in October and November of this year. Pakistan will be there.
