A special customs court sentenced Adnan Shah to five years in prison and ordered the confiscation of all his assets for smuggling mobile phones worth Rs. 40 million from Dubai to Islamabad Airport.
The court also ordered the seizure of 155 high-end mobile phones. However, upon hearing the verdict, Shah escaped from the courtroom, taking advantage of the crowd. Security, customs, and police officials failed to stop him.
The judge expressed severe displeasure over the security lapse and ordered Shah’s immediate arrest. Raids were conducted at his residence and office, but the convict remains at large.
