ISLAMABAD: The ECP expected to decide by next week when the next general elections will held. As well as how the constituencies will divided.
At the meeting, which will be led by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sultan Sikandar Raja, decisions will made on all important problems related to the upcoming elections and new boundaries.
Sources with high status in the ECP said that the commission was quietly watching how things were going.
With the naming of a caretaker prime minister and the start of the process to set up a caretaker government in Sindh and Balochistan, the commission has no choice but to move quickly to hold elections.
Based on the recent digital census, the commission would have to decide when to hold new elections or start redrawing the boundaries of the districts.
The committee would do things that are allowed by the Constitution.
The ECP met with all of its members last week and decided not to talk about sensitive topics.
The sources said that the commission had also asked its legal branch for advice on the problems. Sources said that the next step would depend on the report that the wing would send in.
Political experts aren’t optimistic that elections will be held in the 90-day time frame that was set. The whole process could take eight months.
When making its final choice about what to do, the commission would include all political parties and other important groups.
