Oad Gang
LAHORE(crime reporter)In a major crackdown on cyber fraud, the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) Multan has arrested two alleged members of the notorious ‘Oad Gang’ involved in defrauding citizens through social media apps using fake prize schemes and parcel delivery scams.
The operation was conducted under the special directives of Director NCCIA Punjab, Muhammad Ali Waseem, who termed the arrests a significant breakthrough in the ongoing operations against cybercriminals in the province.
According to the NCCIA, the arrested suspects, identified as Ali Raza (son of Muhammad Bilal) and Muhammad Aslam (son of Muhammad Ashraf), both residents of Khanewal, used social media platforms to entrap citizens. The fraudsters would trick victims by claiming they had won cash prizes, donations, or expensive gifts. To extort money, the suspects impersonated customs officials and delivery agents, convincing the victims to transfer funds under the guise of custom duties, clearance fees, and other bogus charges.
A case (FIR No. 105/26, dated June 24, 2026) has been registered against the suspects under various sections of the PECA Act 2016 (amended 2025) and the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
The raid was executed by the NCCIA Multan team, supervised by Assistant Director Adnan, in Chak No. 157/10-R, Jahanian tehsil, Khanewal district. Law enforcement officials also recovered two mobile phones from the suspects, which have been seized for forensic analysis.
Director NCCIA Punjab, Muhammad Ali Waseem, commended the team’s success and reiterated that indiscriminate actions against cyber fraud, online scams, and elements looting the hard-earned money of citizens will continue. He emphasized that no leniency would be shown to swindlers, and those involved in such illicit activities would be brought to justice.
