WASHINGTON: Congressman Jamaal Bowman introduced a historic “Pakistan Day” resolution in the House of Representatives.
The resolution “honour and celebrate the important role played by the Pakistani-American community. In strengthening and inspiring the people of the United States.” according to Radio Pakistan.
The resolution declared that the US should honour persons who promote ethnic pride and cultural variety, which enriches communities.
“Pakistan Day provides an excellent means by which all residents of the United States can learn more about the rich Pakistani heritage. While fostering an appreciation for the ancient culture among future generations,” it added.
Pakistan’s Ambassador to the US, Masood Khan, commended Congressman Bowman for his effort. He said this will boost bilateral relations and bring the two nations’ people closer together.
He congratulated the American Pakistan Advocacy Group’s president and renowned community leader Ali Rashid. As well as other officer-bearers for their hard work and close collaboration with the congressman to introduce the momentous resolution.
Moreover, He said declaring 23 March 2023 “Pakistan Day” and honouring Pak-Americans shows the importance of Pak-US relations and a willingness to strengthen them.
Afterward, Congressman Bowman welcomed Masood Khan to his chamber and spoke about the relationship’s value and the Pakistani diaspora’s vital role in education, medicine, research, technology, business, and industry.
Congressman Bowman told reporters outside Capitol Hill that introducing the resolution was an honour.
said: “As the US government, we must support Pakistanis who are facing a historic disaster. 10 million lack clean water and energy. 1/3 of the nation was devastated. This is due to a climate change-related natural calamity.”
Afterwards, Congressman Bowman wished Pakistanis “Pakistan Day” on “Peace and love to the people of Pakistan.” and the start of Holy Ramadan.
“Let us continue to work together to bring our two countries together.” he remarked.
