In central Chile’s Laguna del Maule volcanic field, 160 small earthquakes were recorded within just two hours this week, prompting increased scientific monitoring.
The area spans about 500 square kilometers and contains over 130 volcanic vents. Although the seismic events were low in magnitude and the green alert level remains in place, geologists suggest the volcano is showing signs of activity and could lead to a moderate event in the future.
