£190m settlement case: Farogh Naseem disputes Imran Khan.

ISLAMABAD: Senator Farogh Naseem denied Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan’s assertion. That he recommended the former prime minister to transfer £190 million from UK’s NCA to a Supreme Court account.

The former law minister denied that a federal cabinet meeting described by Imran Khan included the £190 million settlement.

On Tuesday night, Geo News anchorperson Naseem reported this when contacted.

Naseem told the presenter that neither the Ministry of Law and Justice nor he had told the former premier that the money would be trapped in the UK if the agreement not signed.

Naseem said Khan chose to adjust the amount to the Supreme Court account, and everything was on the record.

Barrister Rashad Aslam, a prominent British lawyer, informed the programme that the NCA always consults the government before reaching an arrangement. He said the NCA approached the Pakistani government about 190 million British pounds and inked the agreement following official permission.

Farogh claimed the government signed the Deed of Confidentiality with the NCA, promising to keep the information private.

He noted that the government has approved the accord, therefore the money would go to the apex court. He claimed the government might have ordered NCA to transfer the funds to another account.

The lawyer argued the sum was earmarked for Pakistan under UN convention.
